IT'S TIME

Pig, Chicken - Eagle!

Executive, Eddie Metcalf reminded me of the fable that I heard from a stage 20 years ago about the Chicken and the Pig. The chicken suggests that the two involve themselves in a scheme involving a breakfast of bacon and eggs. In reply, the Pig notes that, for the Chicken, only a contribution is required (eggs), while for the Pig a "total commitment" (sacrifice) is needed for this breakfast to happen.
Of course we relate this fable to our involvement with Network Marketing. Are you a chicken or a pig? Are you fully engaged,  totally committed to growing your Voyager business, or just occasionally contributing a few eggs? Success with Network Marketing takes 3-5 years of total commitment to see your financial dreams come true, and the lifestyle you want to live become a reality. What are you willing to give up to grow your business? How many people a day are you sampling with V3? Are you on every Tuesday night Biz Briefing call, and Saturday Success Strategies call? Have you put your Biz Binder together with 1-31 tickler? Are you working the 4-step system? Are you doing 3-way calls with your upline and team? Are you holding weekly in-home meetings? Are you constantly collecting business cards and adding them to your Prospect 100 list? If yes, then you are totally committed and are a business builder.
There are lots of phrases describing commitment with growing your business. One that I like is, "if you work this business casually, you'll become a casualty." Oh so true. No one starts this business, purchases the 900 Pro Pak with the intention of failing. However, unless you put in the time, you will not see the success you wanted. Simply make the commitment, write your goals, write your Prospect 100 list (chunk it down to ten at a time), and become "bullet proof." Being bullet proof is knowing that no matter how in love you are with the product and opportunity, there are going to be family members who give you grief. That's a given. "How can you soar with the eagles if you are working with the turkeys!" Just seek out the eagles to work with and develop, and ignore the turkeys. They will try to have you doubt what you are involved with. Don't let them. Surround yourself with positive like-minded people. Build a team of winners - not whiners. The ole' "some will, some won't, so what, NEXT!" has to be part of your internal focus and commitment. "Next!" is the most important word for you. Just add (after recruiting a new person), "the next one's even better!" and you'll have it made. To stay positive and pumped (letter P here) ... you HAVE TO stay PLUGGED IN - PARTICIPATING - PROMOTING. Get fully engaged (last post), make the commitment and then take massive action. Step-up and be a leader with Voyager. We need you. You need us. Together, as EAGLES, we can take this opportunity to the moon! (oink)

People feel it and can't be without it. Talk about a win-win here! So, get on board...get fully engaged. That means to plug in with every call and event, participate with sharing your success stories on the calls, promote everything with your team, and double your sampling efforts, sell more product, sponsor more people. Use the tools we have spent hours developing for you. Use your sponsor to help you sponsor new people. Team-up in your areas and build local momentum. Create a frenzy. It's time to get on board and FULLY ENGAGE!!!

What I Want

I adore Network Marketing. I could never work for anyone else. Here's a fun example (story)...


Once upon a time, an ambitious woman entered a successful store with a reputation for beautiful, fine-quality merchandise. She walked right up to the owner and said, "Sir, I am very impressed with your establishment. I'd like to come on board and build a career here. I can promise you I'll work hard and I'll do a great job. In return, all I ask for is the following:  First, I'd like 20% profit on everything I sell.  And, if I sell more than $4,000 in any given month, I'd like a 5% Bonus. I will expect 2% of every person I hire and if I bring in and train five new sales people, I think I deserve 5% of everything they sell. Now, when I do well, I expect lots of praise and recognition - not to mention products, special awards and gifts - oh yes, and dream vacations to exotic locations!  By the way, I'm afraid I'm not into the 9-to-5 scene, so I'll want to set my own schedule and work when it suits me best. And of course, my family ALWAYS comes first.  Ok, I think that's about it. So when can I start?"


After the store owner recovered from shock, he roared with laughter. "Lady, you can't be serious! You're living in a dream world. You'll never find an opportunity like that - ANYWHERE!"
He was wrong - that woman could have been me (and you). "I found that opportunity as an Associate with Voyager Health Technologies!"

(This is a fun example of how exciting, lucrative and freedom-driven Network Marketing is. Voyager has a far more lucrative pay plan, more benefits, more bells and whistles, etc. This is just a fun story I found. Thanks Robin for sharing it with me.)

Being a Team Player

As an operatically trained soloist, cellist and pianist, I was never trained in the importance of being a team player. However, I learned quickly raising top high school, college and pro basketball players. Chris and David would always stress to me the importance of being a team player, knowing their role, not being a ball hog, passing the ball, etc. The music world just doesn't view the competition (other singers) quite so benevolently.


We are all blessed with gifts and talents to share with each other. We all bring something to the game, so to speak. And in magnifying others around us, giving support and complementing others skills and talents, we grow and mature as individuals. Think about the lyrics to the song "NO MAN IS AN ISLAND" ...

No man is an island,
No man stands alone,
Each man's joy is joy to me,
Each man's grief is my own.
We need one another,
So I will defend,
Each man as my brother,
Each man as my friend.

Tonight Shelley Ball text'd me very, very sick. She had come home from school with strep throat and was unable to swallow or talk, and was in a great deal of pain. She and her team were to be the testimonials on tonite's Biz Briefing call. She kept apologizing via text, but I knew there was no way she could participate tonite. I made ten unsuccessful attempts to find testimonials to cover her spot at the last minute. I then l reached out to Billy Banks. He immediately text'd me back "got ya covered!" That's a team player. "Thank you Billy". This business is not about being an island and standing alone. It's about teaming-up and helping each other succeed. It starts with doing the 48-hour Checklist with your new recruit, 3-way calls and 2-on-1 appointments (field training). It's about doing meetings together, launching your new people, holding parties together, celebrating success together, and motivating each other. "I got ya covered" should always be at the core of why you are doing this business. As a team we are unstoppable. Standing along won't see the same success. As you are recruiting, get to know your team, know their dreams and needs. Then help them realize those dreams. The money will be great, but the better rewards come from helping them succeed and being a true team player.

I love all of the latest social media and internet tools (and gadgets) available to us to keep in touch with our loved ones and friends. With my five children and sixteen grandchildren now living everywhere but California, :-( Facebook, Skype, family blog sites, mobile phone uploads, etc. help to keep us in the loop and in touch. Although it's not the same as my planned "Burgess Boulevard" where all of my five children, four spouses, sixteen grandchildren live on the same block, a weekly Skype call to catch up at least brings a smile to grandma Burgess' face. OK ... enough said.

I saw this photo of son, Chris' oldest girls all decked out with backpacks ready for a month of school before heading to meet their dad in Poland (where Chris is playing pro basketball this year.) This made me think about how quickly the summer months have passed and if you, we have been buried with family events. First, with finally having all of the children together in one location in Utah at the family cabin, and second, at the Burgess family reunion. It was a fun, family-filled summer where cousins met cousins for the first time, memories were made, and tons of pictures were taken. Loved it! Now it's time to buckle down and get serious about building our Voyager businesses. I mean ... serious as in $$$.


Take time today to re-write your goals. But this time simply chunk it down into a three-step plan of action for yourself. Step One is to write down three things that you want to buy or do in the next three months ... September, October, November. These could include hiring a housekeeper, repairing your home (we are redecorating), buying a second car, whatever. These three goals must get you excited and pumped about building your business. You must be able to achieve these goals in three months. Think big - splurge! Step Two is to determine your immediate plan of action. What will you do daily to begin to move forward with these goals? Step Three is to let this all happen for yourself. Don't doubt that you can achieve. (If you believe, you will achieve). Let it happen! If you are doing Steps One and Two, you will achieve the three goals you write down. Take action immediately. Get fully engaged with building your empire with Voyager. Don't hesitate. Say less to more people. Let the tools talk and use that proven 4-step system. It's a numbers game. You are looking for ten great people who catch your vision, roll up their sleeves and build a huge Voyager business with you. And that will take you doing the basics, teaching the basics and using the 4-step system. Don't shortcut the system. Don't reinvent the wheel. Just do to duplicate.

You are Just Lucky!

Someone in my family actually said to Ken and I when we were making six figures a month, "you just got lucky!" Hmmm...yes and no. I like the quote above because the harder you work, the luckier you get. Yes, we are lucky to know all of you. Yes, we are lucky to have had V3 dropped into our laps. Yes, we are lucky that the V3 product works on over 90% of the people who try it. Yes, we are lucky to have the freedom of being able to work from home. Yes, we are lucky to have a corporate team backing our opportunity with vision for the future. Yes, we are lucky to have a product that addresses more than diet - mood, energy and appetite. And yes, we are lucky to be involved with something we love doing. But luck will only take you so far. If you don't "bust your fanny", as the quote says, your luck will quickly run out.


It's a numbers game. Some will. Some won't. So what. NEXT! It's a sorting game where you look at everyone you are talking to and sampling, then sort them into piles - like laundry. Customers - Associate Consumers - Part-time People - Business Builders - Key Leaders. Four groups that all love the product, but let's be real here (40 years in MLM talking), when you sponsor ten people, 6 will love and consume the product, 2 will be part-timers who sponsor by accident, but will retail lots of V3, and 1 will be a business builder who will turn into a key leader for you. Your goal should be to get ten (10) great business builders. If that takes you five years, that's A-OK! Some of you hustlers will do that faster. Do what, you ask? Sponsor 100 people to get your ten leaders. Know this...one great leader is worth $10,000.00 a month to you. Times that by ten and there you go...six figures a month!


A little advise ... work with those that work. Who is working? Those who are on every Tuesday Biz Briefing call with Prospects, sampling two a day, 3-way calling you every week with new Associates, holding In-Home meetings, are using the 4-step system and are on Saturday morning Success Strategy training's. These are serious people who want what you want and are doing what you are doing. They will succeed, so make it a point to work with them. Keep everyone else in the loop with weekly email blasts, text messaging reminders and touch-base calls once a month. But work with those that work.


The bottom-line. Sample two a day, everyday, talk to more people, write your goals, see yourself successful, then do what you need to do to make that happen.  Good luck!

Design Your Life!

Write it down now.
Find a quiet place right now, and with a notebook and felt tip pen, begin to design your life as you want it to be. See it. Visualize it. Start writing. Write, in detail what you see, using present terms as if you are living that life and lifestyle that you want. Describe where you are living, what your house looks like, what car you are driving, where you are vacationing, who you are with, what physical shape you are in, and how much money you have in savings, in investments, and in your pocket for spending. Describe the hobbies and activities that you are enjoying. Design every detail of the lifestyle you want to live. Do it now. Then when you have finished this, set the notebook on the night stand by your bed, and read it every night before going to sleep. Do this for three years without fail.

I have read most every book written on Network Marketing, over the years. I've listened and read The Secret 3-4 times, attended Jim Rohn, Tom Hopkins and Tony Robbins seminars, training's and even the firewalk. And I realized today, after reading the book Beach Money, while getting a haircut, that I need to re-design my life, and write down, in detail, new goals and dreams, just as I described it above to you, and just like I did years ago.

When we all do this important action assignment, we will achieve everything we write down, but we must write it, visualize it, internalize it, then we will achieve it.

Sponsor 100 and you'll find 10 good leaders. You see, when you work hard for 3-4 years, then you will hardly work for huge money. That's the magic of this business. Making a Difference

The last few posts I've written have been pin-pointing the personal attributes leaders tend to posses in this business. The last post highlighted Billy Banks of Texas. Every conversation I have with him is positive and moving forward. Earlier I highlighted Shelley Ball of West Virginia who is always excited. When highlighting Scott and Judy Roberts of Michigan, as well as Heidi and Eddie Metcalf of Florida, I focused in on them both being teachable and following the 4-step system, and duplicating with their team. An earlier post had me outlining Elaine Tomrell from Michigan taking initiative when Ken was there on his road trip, keeping him buried with meetings and luncheons - in the home or hotel - taking full advantage of every business building moment.


Success with Network Marketing is a culmination of excitement, positive attitude and action, initiative to make things happen in your area, being teachable and following the outlined 4-step system. In addition to these important things, Regional Director, Nancy Feinberg has what can not be taught in this business. And that is a love for people. Nancy cares about every person she hands a sample to, follow-ups with, and enrolls as an Associate. She takes SAMPLE - SELL - SPONSOR - SUPPORT to a whole other level. She loves what she is doing, and it shows. She loves the people she is working with, and it is felt. She loves to help others, and that's why she has developed so many Executives on her team, and has achieved the Regional Director position. She cares and that's why she is an awesome leader.

So now, let's take your business building to the next level and add the "Nancy Factor" and fall in love with what you are doing, love and listen to those you are talking to, and truly care about the people you sponsor. Team-up, meet often, go over the 48-hour Checklist with them, communicate, update and congratulate. Then, and only then, will you truly make a difference.

There's no one on earth more positive about life and this business than Executive, Billy Banks of Texas. Everyone that meets him loves him. His philosophy is to simply get rid of the "stinkin' thinkin'" (Zig Ziglar), and go vertical. He is a joy to be around, talk to and work with. And his enthusiasm for this business is why he is exploding and is one of our top leaders. He is magnetic and let's nothing get him down. Tell Your Story

What a great way to describe telling your story, comparing it to a song is music to the ears (and heart strings). And we all have a unique story to tell about our experience with V3 and the Voyager business, locked in with our personal "why" we do this. So it's important to know how to tell your story to effectively build your Voyager business. Your passion for the product and business must be transferred through you to the person you are sharing Voyager with. That's where great story telling comes in. They must feel as you feel. They must relate to you, trust you, and know that Voyager is something that they want and can do. Your story starts them believing.

Before and after pictures always tell a great story. What's that saying? A picture's worth a thousand words? And showing your before and after pictures is what you should be doing during your presentations. In fact, make sure they are in the front of your Biz Binder in clear plastic pages, along with other stories you have collected. But before showing the pictures, nail down your story. First, write down "why" you are doing this business. Now jot down how you felt before taking V3. Take into account the three major formula factors - mood, energy and appetite. Jot down things that you have noticed, like focus, cravings, bad snacking habits, movement, inch loss, weight loss, blood pressure, blood sugar, headaches, etc. These are common things that are effected in a very positive way with V3. Pin point what stands out for you. Jot them down and start writing your story. Start with being skeptical. 

"My name is Sandi, and I live in Southern California. I'm a mother of five and grandmother of sixteen, an operatically trained singer and music teacher, and I love Network Marketing. I've always worked from home because my priority is family. This business has given me the freedom to do all of the things I love doing - raising children, being involved with music, community and church. And after my sixth baby was born I became a type 2 diabetic and have struggled (actually yo-yo'd) with dieting. Before V3 I felt out of control with my portion sizes and late night snacking, was tired and grumpy most of the time, and just couldn't get a handle on my weight. I even considered surgical alternatives to control my appetite. V3 came to me at the perfect time. We were looking for another Networking business, and I, personally, was looking for this little magic pill. I felt V3's magic work within 30 minutes. I was finally happy, motivated, focused, energized, and my blood sugar normalized. I couldn't believe this one little pill could do everything it did for me. TEAM-UP!

When I start building my business, I like to sponsor from coast to coast great people. But, I've also been in this business near 40 years, have worked with lots of incredible individuals, and have a pretty good database to draw from as I begin the sponsoring process. However, I started right where you are, and I remember very clearly what I did in those start-up days to build my business. First, I always look for leaders who I know will step-up and make things happen in their individual areas with or without me living there. Second, I look for goal-oriented, self-motivated individuals who need me for those important ongoing 3-way calls, but they can pretty much make things happen on their own. I tell them from the get-go to immediately find a business buddy.

With mentoring and training them, I always encourage my personally sponsored people to buddy-up with someone in the area that has the same excitement and passion that they have for the business, then team-up and run fast together. Do everything together. Sizzle and strategize daily, and keep each other motivated and moving forward with building the business. I tell them to hold each other accountable for all daily income generating activity. Meet weekly and figure out creative ways to best grow your area and groups. Team-up with holding 2-on-1 appointments, in-home meetings, expo's and shows, and cold calling.

Teaming-up makes independent business building a lot more exciting, easy and fun! You will empower each other, and create area momentum. When one is a little down, the other is up. This mornings SUCCESS STRATEGIES training call made my heart sing. Why? Because two of Voyagers fastest growing leaders were featured and they shared their biz building strategies with the listening team. Take the Products to the People!

Holding home meetings is key to building a strong Network Marketing business for yourself. Gathering people together in a meeting does two things: re-sells the dream to the existing team, and sells the dream to new people. It's in these small intimate gatherings that dream building is done. People feel comfortable entering a home to learn about a business that they can actually work from home. Holding meetings in the home creates a warm and welcoming environment for friends and family to gather together and learn about the product and business opportunity.

Many people will come to your home event as a favor to you, and will come more willingly if you ask them to bring an assigned item like chairs, ice, a snack, or bottled water, and of course a friend (if you remind them to do so.) The "do-me-a-favor" approach with inviting warm market contacts always works if you remind them a minimum of three times by phone, twice by email and once by text messaging. Somehow people conveniently forget, so your last reminder (being a text) should read something like this, "I can't wait to see you tonight at my Voyager SoirĂ©e!  Remember to bring the ice, and a couple of friends"


For decades, Network Marketing and Direct Selling companies have always seen big time success when the field leadership consistently holds weekly home meetings, PBR's and parties. These home meetings feed into the monthly area hotel meeting, where the opportunity is validated in a bigger way. And the more home meetings are taking place in a given area, the faster momentum will happen for that area. It's important to note, in reference to home meetings, that Mary Kay outsells most department store cosmetics. Tupperware outsells Rubbermaid that is found in every grocery and pharmacy store in the US! Why? Because of TRUST. Your friends and family trust you, and are more likely to take a look at what you are doing, and will want to try your product.


We are all educators in this wonderful world of Network Marketing. We educate people on products and programs that they didn't know existed. The person needing your diet isn't usually found in the health food store asking questions about a good diet product and program. But they will come to a home meeting, and after hearing the weight loss stories, will want to try your product for themselves, and possibility get involved with you in the business.  I've always said that this business is all about taking the products to the people. And the most effective way to do this is with the home meeting. It's a safe place to ask questions, talk to the other attendees and speakers, pick up a sample, a bottle, and hear about the possibilities of hope, health and wealth.

As your home meetings grow, and know that they may start small, you should document how many pounds have been lost in the room (see the above picture in Michigan). Have your guests sign in, get a name tag, and write down their pounds lost on V3. This is so easy to do, is fun, and it will amaze you how quickly those 5-10-15+ pounds add up!  Have fun, meet often (same time, same place) and take the products to the people. They are looking for V3!

Hope Vs Hype

I've blogged a lot lately about recognizing opportunity. it's a subject that is near and dear to my heart, as they say. When you've established yourself as a network marketer you tend to get asked to start companies, are sent boat loads of products to try free, and offered various "deals" as enticements to get involved. 
Lately both Ken and I have noticed a bad trend with struggling networking companies that have been limping along for 6-8 years, then decide to hustle in "hitters", guarantee them monthly money for six months to bring on board their teams from the companies they are currently involved with.
